FAQ

WHAT CAMERA AND EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

My current kit consists of Canon DSLR cameras and Canon and Sigma lenses. I have a 5D Mark IV as my main body, with a 1D Mark IV and 5D Mark II for backup, and lenses that range from a 15mm fisheye to 300mm f/2.8, which I use with teleconverters when photographing wildlife. I also use a GoPro Hero 6 Black for some subjects, and snap casual photos with my iPhone 8 on a regular basis.

    DO YOU EDIT/PHOTOSHOP YOUR IMAGES?

Absolutely! The greatest photographers of our time have all edited their images. All of my images have some degree of editing, whether it be simple adjustments to contrast and saturation, to more extreme edits that may involve removing distracting elements from the scene or adding a lighting effect. In general, I avoid major manipulations on my nature photos and reserve more extensive editing for illustrative work, such as pet portraits. If you have a question about editing done to a specific image, don't hesitate to ask.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU TOOK A PHOTOGRAPH?

Sometimes. In an effort to safeguard the subjects I photograph, there are times when I do not reveal the location of a shoot, except to name a general location, such as an entire state or national park. We humans tend to love things to death, and I'd rather keep a location secret and have you be mad at me about it than risk exploiting a pristine landscape or disturbing wildlife. When locations are obvious and already well documented, such as popular landmarks at national parks, I often include the location details in the description of the photograph on its image page.

I WANT TO BUY/LICENSE ONE OF YOUR PHOTOS, BUT CAN'T FIND IT ON YOUR WEBSITE. CAN I BUY IT?

Most likely! If you are just having difficulty locating a certain photo, be sure to use the "search" feature at the bottom of any gallery page. If you saw a photo posted on social media or elsewhere, but it isn't on the website, you can probably still buy it. Rarely, I will sell single edition images for fundraising purposes, or do commercial work where images are licensed to clients and not available for immediate resale. Either way, send me an email describing the image you want and I can let you know what options are available.
