In college, I took photos for my school's Sports Information Office and when The College of New Jersey served as the host for the 2006 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, I got a handed a press pass and given a closer than front row seat. Throughout most of the three day tournament, I wandered between matches photographing elite college wrestlers from all over the country face off. During the championship matches, I got to sit side by side with photographers from Sports Illustrated, and one of my images from the event ended up winning the silver award in photography the professional division of the University and College Designers annual contest. This was easily some of the most fun I've ever had shooting an event.
Below is a collection of some my favorite images from the event (you can see more on my rarely used Flickr page). All photos taken with a Nikon D70, most with the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens, and processed with a mix of Capture NX, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
