Journal: Claremont Broduro - September 2016

What do you get when you build a bunch of mountain biking trails, gather some riders together, and add a timing system for a friendly race between friends? The Broduro! Modeled after enduro style racing, where riders climb uphill on bikes and then race downhill repeatedly then add their timed downhill runs for a cumulative overall time that measures endurance, downhill race speed, and the ability to navigate varied terrain, the annual Broduro is simply a small scale enduro between friends. All riders climb and descend together, volunteer timekeepers and race marshalls keep the event fair and safe, and when John races, I take photos too!

Lighting conditions for this race were tricky, but the event was a ton of fun. I mostly used my 1D Mark IV and 17-40mm lens to shoot the race, because I could get extra close to the riders since there was no race tape and the competition was more friendly than serious. I actually got so close that when one rider crashed, I caught his bike, as well as images of the wipeout. All images processed in Lightroom.
