I offer a variety of instructional services and guided tours, including private instruction, day and weekend workshops, and backcountry photography trips. The most basic of these are group day workshops, where I meet with participants for one day only and offer instruction and advice for shooting a particular subject. Weekend workshops are usually a bit more diverse, with multiple subjects as a focus, included classroom sessions, and may include lodging. Backcountry trips and tours offer a completely different perspective for nature photography and fully immerse participants in an outdoor environment throughout the duration of the trip. For these workshops, participants camp out overnight, and the itinerary often calls for hiking, kayaking, or other non-motorized transport, so participants should be in good physical condition. The benefit of these trips is that we can often visit more remote areas and completely experience the natural world we are photographing. I also offer private and semi-private photography lessons, which can be customized to fit your needs and preferences.

My workshops are student centered, so you can be guaranteed to receive individualized instruction. In general my workshops have an upper limit of ten participants, sometimes twelve with a co-instructor, but most of my workshops have student group sizes of six to eight participants. I limit the size of my workshops not only to provide students with individualized attention, but also to make sure than each participant has great access to the subjects and that we as a group minimally impact the environment and wildlife in the areas we travel.
