Description |
Francis, a captive adult male southern Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), was found as a two day old chick fallen from his nest, likely kicked out of the nest by his parents due to a respiratory infection. Now eighteen years old, he is used as an educational subject by the Florida Audubon Center for Birds of Prey. This portrait was taken at sunrise in a controlled setting at Washington Oaks State Park near St. Augustine, Florida.
