While visiting Chris this weekend for his birthday, we made two trips to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to photograph beautiful Eastern Redbud trees in full bloom. Eastern Redbuds are flowering trees native to Eastern North America and are very prevalent in the northern Virginia area where Chris lives. While the trees in the high mountains of Shenandoah still have yet to bud out, at the lower elevations of the park deciduous trees have begun to leaf out and flowers can be seen on the redbud and dogwood trees. I captured this photograph, of new spring green leaves and pink-purple redbud blossoms, near the northern entrance to the park. While I don’t normally like busy, cluttered forest scenes, I think the colors and detail of this shot help balance what might otherwise seem like a chaotic forest scene.

Techs: Canon 1D Mark II N, 70-200mm f/4L IS, ISO 100. To order this print, purchase stock rights, or view other photos I have for sale, please visit my website at www.karipost.com.
