The weather has been pretty mild in New Jersey lately - in the 40s and 50s during what is usually the coldest month in the state. I’m not foolish enough to think that the warm temperatures will stick around very long, but they have had me wistfully thinking of spring, when longer days, warmer temperatures, new life, and spring blooms brighten the day.

Here’s a photo I’ve never displayed on the web before, one taken late last May at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The bright colors and subject matter remind me of spring, so I thought I’d share it today. I don’t know what type of insect the bug is, or even what type of flower it is on, so if there are any experts out there who would like to ID either one for me, please leave a comment or email me at kari@karipost.com.

Ah, something to look forward to. I am personally really tired of winter by now. This is nice Kari - I like the added interest the insect adds without the image being “all about the bug.”
