I’m back in New Jersey now, counting down the days to graduation. My school work leaves me nearly no time for photography, and as I type this I’m taking a break from writing my capstone project paper for my final class as an undergraduate college student. It’s quite exhausting and I for one cannot wait for college to be over! On a side note: Texas was a lot of fun, but it was good I didn’t bring my camera. Can you believe I only saw four species of bird the entire time I was in Fort Worth (European Starling, Mourning Dove, Rock Pigeon, and House Sparrow)!
Anyway, I got an estimate back from the new data recovery company and it will cost $900 to have my hard drive recovered. And that’s with the 10% discount from the referral! As you may have guessed, I cannot afford for such an expensive recovery project (especially after I just had $740 in maintenance done on my car yesterday), so I have decided to have the company ship my drive back to me. I will hold on to it in case the day ever comes when I decide some sycamore bark, a Short-eared Owl, and a Northern Harrier are worth $900. The good news is, the company predicted a 85-100% chance for recovery, so should I ever really need those images back, I’ll hopefully be able to get them.

Kari,
You should take a trip to Corpus Christi Texas, as that’s where the birds are in Texas. In fact there are more bird species in Corpus then any other city in the US. More then 240 species have been spotted within the city limits.
Did you get that Cow Boy hat?

I would absolutely love to. Now if only I could find an organization that would reimburse me for those expenses! Fort Worth was actually very nice (just to visit, not for photography). I’m not a city person at all but I actually had a great time there and wouldn’t mind going back. Fort Worth is probably my favorite “big city” that I’ve visited in the US.
As for the cowboy hat, we didn’t get to do a whole lot of shopping and the ones I found were either way too expensive or really cheaply made. I wouldn’t mind spending the money if I had found a hat I really liked, but alas I didn’t. I guess I’ll just have to go back!
