While in upstate New York this winter, one of my goals was to get some close-up, abstract photographs of ice. However, this proved to be a lot more challenging than I had originally assumed, as finding ice that was clean, visually pleasing, and level was not as easy as I imagined. I searched puddles and the surfaces of ponds and lakes, but on many the ice did not have interesting patterns, was uneven, or was covered in sand and snow. Finally, one evening as I was photographing sunset over Oneida Lake, I found a patch of ice with some interesting layers of bubbles and was able to capture an image like that I had desired. I hope before the winter ends, I will be able to find and photograph some more unique ice formations.

Hey Kari,
I really love the detail in this shot. It reminds me of something that I would not mind having for my desktop background. I love the color blue so much.
Glad to see you are doing well though. Best of luck to you!
