Here’s another photograph from my Chincoteague trip a couple of weeks ago. This will probably be my last blog post on the trip, because I’m hoping to get out and shoot around Virginia in the next couple of days.
My absolute favorite subjects to photograph at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge are the wild ponies. Ever since [...]

This past week has been somewhat of a transitional period for me, so I apologize for the long delay between posts. Friday was my last day of work at Project USE for the fall season, and I have spent the past couple days packing up my belongings and spending some quality time with my co-workers before [...]

When all else fails on a trip to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, I usually head to the beach. There, you can nearly always find gulls resting on the beach sand, flying overhead, or perched on one of the fences in the parking area. So, when the weather on our recent trip to Chincoteague turned sour [...]

I have today off from work so this morning I visited my favorite local duck pond again with the goal of photographing Mallards, Canada Geese, and Ring-billed Gulls, regulars that can be expected there every day this time of year. When I arrived, all of the Mallards were resting near shore and there were only three [...]

Here’s another shot I like from my trip to the duck pond. This one is a portrait of a much darker female Mallard, against the pretty green water. I should be able to make a trip back to the pond in the next coming days, when I visit a nearby town for a work assignment. [...]

I made a trip to my favorite local park yesterday hoping to get some better shots of Mallard ducks. I went to a location where the ducks were close to the water’s edge, and set up so that the reflections of the nearby green, yellow, and orange trees provided some sweet water as a background. [...]

Here is another photograph of local color taken during my one hour shooting session on the 13th. Just two days after this image was taken, I noticed that the area is past peak for color this autumn, so unless I get the chance to make a trip down south this season, this may be the [...]

Here’s another shot from my mini outing a couple of days ago. In this one, I focused on a section of trees that showed the varied hues of fall color as a gradient. I hope you like it!

The colors of the autumn trees have just been popping up here recently and I finally grabbed an hour after work today to photograph some of it. This year is the best for color that I can remember. Tomorrow, I have a day off so I’m hoping to spend the day shooting and getting some [...]

Double-crested Cormorant Portrait

Here’s another photograph of the Double-crested Cormorant I found hanging out at the duck pond in Glen Rock. After fishing, cormorants dry their wings by holding them outstretched for the sun and air to dry. I managed to get a portrait of this one while showing that behavior.
Techs: Canon 1D Mark II N, 300mm f/2.8 [...]
