Here’s another photograph from my trip to Barnegat Light yesterday, of a female Harlequin Duck resting on a rock covered in mussels. Towards the end of the day, the Harlequins grew more tolerant of the many people walking the jetty and light cloud cover provided some beautiful diffused light to photograph these birds. The lower tide exposed some of the rocks near the jetty and this female took the opportunity to rest on one of them as I photographed her and her companions. Because the light was low, I had to use higher ISOs, slower shutter speeds, and smaller apertures to expose the image correctly.

I really like this one sweetheart. Very intimate setting for what I’m used to from Barnegat. Nice job getting some more shots from there.
