Great set of images and good luck with the workshops.  I was out studying Scaup this morning and I believe your Mystery Scaup is a Greater.  The back of the head is more rounded without a noticable peak that typically is visible in the Lesser.  Also, the sheen of the plumage is greenish (right behind the eye) rather than purplish, also indicating Greater.  Nice work.
