I found this very interestingly marked Redback Salamander while flipping logs at Washington Crossing State Park on Sunday. I love the mixed deep red and blue-gray color of his back, so I just had to photograph him. Isn’t he pretty? I showed this photograph to a bunch of herper friends and all of them think [...]

Northern Two-lined Salamanders, such as this one, can be found alongside creeks and streams, usually hiding under rocks right near the water’s edge. They are quite common and I found many of these critters on my trip to Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, New Jersey yesterday. Despite how common they are, they can be [...]

I had planned to stay in and work on my website for most of today, but the calm, bright overcast weather was too good not to take advantage of, so I decided to stop by Washington Crossing State Park for a couple of hours to see if I could find anything to photograph. I ended up [...]

Every April I look forward to finding and photographing Red Foxes. Fortunately, for the past two years a couple of photographer friends have been a huge help in showing me dens that they have found or have been told about. Somehow though, I never seem to get lucky when I visit them, and usually spend [...]

Here’s another shot from my visit to Shenandoah National Park last weekend. This photograph is quite different from my first post, as it was taken at a higher elevation from deeper within the park, where the new spring growth has yet to really pop. What I like about this image is that it shows the transition [...]

While visiting Chris this weekend for his birthday, we made two trips to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to photograph beautiful Eastern Redbud trees in full bloom. Eastern Redbuds are flowering trees native to Eastern North America and are very prevalent in the northern Virginia area where Chris lives. While the trees in [...]

I’m heading to Virginia today to spend the weekend with Chris, since his birthday is Monday and I have to teach that day. We have plans to do a bit of photography, including wildflowers and salamanders around Shenandoah National Park and Great Falls National Park, so hopefully I’ll have some new photographs to post in [...]

Now that I know I won’t be able to recover my old images, I’ve decided to buckle down and start editing and processing those photographs that I have. Here’s another gannet photograph from my trip last month, one I particularly like because of the pose of the bird and the faint clouds in the background. Photographing these [...]

I’m back in New Jersey now, counting down the days to graduation. My school work leaves me nearly no time for photography, and as I type this I’m taking a break from writing my capstone project paper for my final class as an undergraduate college student. It’s quite exhausting and I for one cannot wait for [...]

One of my favorite types of photographs to take are wide-angle environmental shots of birds and wildlife showing the animal in it’s natural habitat. In the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York state, the opportunities for these types of shots are wonderful, especially when the weather conditions cooperate.
Chris has a favorite lake of his in [...]
